Artificial avalanche release system DAISYBELL^®

Daisybell® is the very last preventive avalanche release technology developed by TAS. Complementary to the GAZEX® system, it is an alternative to explosives to treat paths that are not equipped with permanent remote preventive release systems.
Helicopter-borne over the zone to be cleaned, Daisybell® consists in exploding a hydrogen/oxygen mixture, which is contained in a metal cone, 3 to 5 meters above the snow cover.
All operations are controlled from the helicopter cockpit. Less than ten seconds are necessary from the shot request to the ignition and there is no waiting time between two shots.

Structure :
Reinforced with steel

It is tied to the helicopter by a 25-meters sling.

Explosive cone :
Made with high mechanical properties steel, it enables to contain the gas mixture to the ignition and directs the explosion blast towards the snow cover.

Control system :
Daisybell® is remotely controlled by radio, from the helicopter cockpit.
The control unit enables to know, at anytime, the level of gas reserves and displays the distance between the device and the ground.

Effects :
The explosion of the gas mixture has 2 effects:

• A direct push into the snow cover thanks to the cone shape that directs the main explosion blast towards the ground.
• A shock wave that produces an overpressure and then a negative pressure of 25 mbar in a 30-meter radius, above the snow cover

Daisybell® system enables to free from law restrictions concerning storage, transport and use of explosives
